Job Details

The Central State University Foundation is seeking a full-time Foundation Accountant and Donor Services Manager to support stewardship and donor relations. This position plays a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records; analyzing financial data; ensuring compliance with accounting standards; supporting the annual audit; and providing valuable data for donor relationship management. The Foundation Accountant and Donor Services Manager will have access to sensitive information and should demonstrate the ability to maintain strict confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and adhere to the Central State University Foundation’s confidentiality policies and practices. The ideal candidate is self-motivated and driven by a personal commitment to the highest professional standards in a team environment. This position will collaborate with internal and external partners and should have the ability to understand colleagues’ and donor’s needs, communicate effectively, and maintain positive interactions that are instrumental in achieving the donor relations objectives of the Central State University Foundation.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUCTIONS

• Support fiscal management of over $10 million in cash and assets of the CSU Foundation

• Supervise the day-to-day budget management and financial operations of the CSU Foundation

• Prepare or assist with budgets and ensure compliance with allocated funding. Coordinate and support internal/external audit.

• Identify opportunities for operational improvements and determine corrective actions to improve operating program effectiveness. Provide direction in the development of policies and procedures to strengthen internal controls over fiscal reporting (ICOFR).

• Develop and implement financial improvement plans (FIPs) to transform business processes and mitigate risk, producing timely, accurate, consistent, and reliable financial data.

• Play a key role in the automation and migration of data to new accounting system designed to maintain the integrity of accounting records and financial information.

• Maintain the Foundation’s chart of accounts. Prepare data for the Foundation’s Annual Reports; Prepare annual contribution statements for donors.

• Execute the work of accounting in the areas of bank reconciliations, account receivables, account payables, and the preparation of month end closing journal entries.

• Reconcile monthly account and fund statements; Maintain records and generate appropriate reports; Maintain a variety of complex ledgers. Keep separate records for funds allotted to each fund/account and records disbursements, transfers and purchases made against each account.

• Analyze month end account balances, financial statements, and reconcile any reclassifications and adjustments to the general ledger.

• Compile and present quarterly financial statements and reports for the Foundation Executive Director and Foundation Board of Trustees; Perform analytical and variance analysis of actual and budgeted financial statements.

• Provide expertise to maintain the integrity of accounting records and financial information through the implementation of generally accepted accounting principles, and best practices.

• Ensure compliance with University, State, and Federal regulations governing vendor payment, tax forms, annual audits, and generally accepted accounting principles. Foundation Accountant & Donor Services Manager

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or related discipline.

• 5 years minimum experience in accounting

• Strong customer service abilities

• Successful background working in a highly regulated environment

• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, to analyze and solve complex problems, and to exercise sound judgment.

• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills; ability to engage in strategic planning and process improvement

• Strong entrepreneurial attitude including drive for results and proven ability to stay focused on goals; ability to prioritize competing priorities and meet deadlines

• Strong organizational skills, ability to follow processes and attention to detail

• Strong written communication and presentation skills. Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written, and public speaking.

• Creativity and a strong sense of integrity are important.

• The ability to create and implement systems and processes.

• Strong computer and Internet proficiency, including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Google G-Suite, social media tools, and database applications

• Experience working in a fast paced, quick turnaround environment

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, together with the ability to work collaboratively and courteously with external partner

• High professional and ethical standards for handling confidential information
