The College of Education, Department of Instruction and Curriculum Leadership is seeking to add a collaborative and innovative colleague for a full-time, nine (9) month, non-tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor of Special Education at the University of Memphis’ Lambuth Campus located in Jackson, TN. The ICL department and the special education program are dedicated to fostering a culture and climate of belonging and inclusiveness. The applicant’s teaching, service, and scholarship should demonstrate commitment to and experience with (1) special education methods, (2) teacher education preparation; (3) expertise in using classroom assessments and student achievement data to inform instruction; (4) culturally relevant and sustaining practice; and (5) comprehensive and sustained professional growth opportunities to enhance professional practices involving diverse populations. The successful candidate will start August 19, 2024. ICL is not offering any sponsorships at this time.

Required Qualifications:
• Earned doctorate degree obtained by August 1, 2024 in Special Education or closely related field
• Evidence of excellence in Special Education teaching for a minimum of 3 years in K-12 schools

Desired Qualifications:
• Evidence of, or potential for, successful teacher candidate supervision and related clinical experiences
• Knowledge of EdTPA and/or various teacher evaluation systems
• Experience and evidence of excellence in teaching at the college level

Responsibilities:
• Teach undergraduate and/or graduate Special Education field-based methods courses on or off- campus or online
• Supervise clinical residency and related field experiences
• Model technology integration in classroom experiences
• Collaborate with local school systems in the preparation of teachers
• Attend department and program area meetings
• Professional service such as committee assignments and community engagement
• Other duties as assigned
