Messina College at Boston College invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of the Practice of English to teach First-Year Writing and Introduction to Literature. For candidates with considerable teaching experience, a higher rank may be considered. This is a full-time, non-tenure-track position with a three-year renewable contract to begin in the summer session of 2024 (July 1). The teaching load is six courses per year, with the anticipated distribution of 2 courses in the summer and two in the fall and spring semesters. This position involves teaching as well as advising Messina College students.
A completed application should contain a cover letter, a curriculum vitae, a teaching statement, an advising/mentoring statement, and three letters of recommendation. Two of the letters of recommendation should primarily deal with the candidate's teaching. The teaching statement should indicate the candidate’s pedagogical approach, outline the courses they may offer, and highlight any relevant teaching experience with first-generation students. About Messina College: Messina College is a new two-year residential college division of Boston College that will offer an associate’s degree program for 100 first-generation and low-income students annually beginning in the 2024–25 academic year. The program aims to prepare students to enroll in a bachelor’s degree program or begin their professional careers.
