Located in sunny Miami, Florida, St. Thomas University is a private, non-profit university that offers 39 undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate degrees at its picturesque 144-acre campus and through distance learning. Its academic offerings include one of the oldest (and most highly ranked) undergraduate programs in Sports Administration in the country. POSITION SUMMARY:

The listed position is to serve as a full-time on ground faculty member in the department of Philosophy, History, and Global Studies for St. Thomas University. Candidates should be passionate educators and practitioners that re commuted to the academic and professional success of their studies in becoming ethical leaders in the global community, Candidates should demonstrate (1) a mastery of the specific discipline: (2) a deep commitment to the college mission of fostering student success, achievement, and persistence: (3) technology competencies as well as teaching strategies that facilitates 21st century literacies: (4) the use of resources that prepare students for development as ethical leaders in the global community.

Essential Job Functions:

- Teach a minimum of eight undergraduate/graduate course sections per year in the areas of humanities, history, and/or philosophy.

- Participate in curriculum or program development, as assigned.

- Be Accessible to students according to college guidelines.

- Maintain regular office hours for student advising and consultation.

- Serve and contribute to appropriate college and university committees.

- Provide community service and participate in university, college, and departmental functions that contribute to campus life such as athletic events, orientation, receptions, etc.

- Participate in commencement, college faculty meetings, and departmental functions.

- Continue professional development activities.

- Other duties as signed by the Program Director and/or the Dean of Biscayne College.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

- Proficiency in use of computer hardware and curriculum related software

- Strong record in use of digital technology in teaching and research preferred.

- Possess excellent communications skills (verbal and written)

- Ability to work well with students and colleagues in a multi-ethnic/multi-cultural environment.

Required Education:

- Doctoral Degree or Graduate Degree in Humanities, History, or Philosophy.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Ability to teach undergraduate courses in the areas of humanities, philosophy, and history. A minimum of 18 graduate level courses are required in each area within the completed doctoral or master’s degree.

Additional Requirements:

- The final candidate is to successfully complete a background screening and reference check process.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
