Samford University invites nominations and applications for the position of Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.

The new provost must be an experienced academician with a stellar record of leadership in a similar institution; alignment and demonstrated ability to promote the University's mission; and a clear sense of the complex challenges of an institution with undergraduate and graduate programs. He or she will also be a visionary academic leader who embraces fully the Christ-centered ethos and identity of Samford University, creates and sustains - in collaboration with other leaders - a strategic academic vision, commands respect as a thought leader in the academic community, and displays a clear record of administrative leadership and academic success.

The Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs is responsible to the President for the effective operation and qualitative improvement of academic programs and academic support services. Reporting directly to the President, the provost serves as the chief academic officer and oversees the Office of the Provost.

Samford University is a national, comprehensive, residential, Christ-centered university located in Homewood, Alabama, a suburb of Birmingham. Founded in 1841, Samford is the 87th oldest university in the U.S. and has held fast to its mission to nurture students' intellect, creativity, faith, and personhood and to invite students to the intersection of Christian faith and learning. The University has benefitted from 15 consecutive years of enrollment growth, and in the fall of 2023, Samford enrolled its largest freshman class to date consisting of 1,080 students from 49 states and 16 countries.
