position of Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.
The new provost must be an experienced academician with a stellar
record of leadership in a similar institution; alignment and
demonstrated ability to promote the University's mission; and a
clear sense of the complex challenges of an institution with
undergraduate and graduate programs. He or she will also be a
visionary academic leader who embraces fully the Christ-centered
ethos and identity of Samford University, creates and sustains - in
collaboration with other leaders - a strategic academic vision,
commands respect as a thought leader in the academic community, and
displays a clear record of administrative leadership and academic
The Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs is responsible
to the President for the effective operation and qualitative
improvement of academic programs and academic support services.
Reporting directly to the President, the provost serves as the
chief academic officer and oversees the Office of the
