The Department of Management, Information Systems, and
Entrepreneurship in the Carson College of Business at Washington
State University is seeking qualified candidates for one permanent,
full-time tenure-track faculty position in Entrepreneurship, based
at our Pullman campus. Appointment is
Assistant Professor rank but Associate or Full Professor
may be considered depending on qualifications.
The successful candidate will be required to teach
four courses per year (typically two per semester), conduct high
quality academic research, and make rank-appropriate service
contributions to the Department, College, University, and
community. There is a possibility of teaching in International
Business based on candidate interest and college needs. Teaching in
online programs may also be expected as part of the normal teaching
load. The candidate will be expected to participate actively in the
Management doctoral program. We are in the process of evaluating
our upper-division curriculum to ensure it is providing the best
education for our students, including an emphasis on diversity,
equity, and inclusion. There is an opportunity for a new hire
to engage in this process.
An earned doctorate in Entrepreneurship or closely
aligned field from a nationally or internationally recognized
university by the appointment start date and a research program
focused on developing a humanistic understanding of entrepreneurs
and the value creation processes that drive social and economic
progress are required. Candidates for assistant
professor rank must demonstrate potential to establish a
successful record of scholarly research, as evidenced by copies of
published articles, submitted manuscripts, and/or working papers
targeted at publication in top-tier Entrepreneurship and Management
journals, as well as evidence of potential for excellence in
teaching and a commitment to teaching effectiveness at
undergraduate and graduate levels in entrepreneurship and strategic
management courses. Candidates for associate and full
professor must additionally demonstrate a track record
consistent with rank.
Candidates with capabilities of teaching various
undergraduate and graduate-level entrepreneurship and strategic
management courses in face-to-face and online settings are
preferred, as is interest in research and/or teaching that advances
equity, diversity, and inclusion of historically underrepresented
communities and aligns with WSU’s strategic plan. For Associate and
Full Professors, preference is given to candidates with a
successful record of working with doctoral students.
The Department of Management, Information Systems, and
Entrepreneurship (MISE) provides an exceptional work environment
with highly supportive colleagues actively engaged in quality
research, teaching, and service. Entrepreneurship is a core
strength of the department and is a top priority at the Carson
College of Business and Washington State University where
publishing in top entrepreneurship journals is rewarded. Recently,
the department placed in the top-20 in the 2019 Global
Entrepreneurship Research Productivity Rankings based on
publications in JBV, ETP, and SEJ over the past 5-year period. The
MISE Department includes 34 faculty (across 4 campuses) with
substantial plans to grow the department and its core strength in
entrepreneurship.
Screening of applications will begin September 30,
2021, and will continue until the position has been filled.
