: Purdue University’s Department of Psychological Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Computational Cognitive Science to begin in the Fall of 2022. The applicant is expected to contribute to the mathematical and computational psychology graduate program by developing a nationally-recognized research program and to teach undergraduate- and graduate-level courses. Qualifications: The candidate must have a Ph.D. in psychology, cognitive science, or a related discipline by the position start date, a strong publication record, and a research program with a high likelihood of obtaining external funding. We seek candidates who create and use state-of-the-art computational cognitive science models to study complex cognitive processes broadly defined. Examples of potential areas of expertise include (but are not limited to): human reasoning, problem solving, concept learning, and creativity. 

The College and University: The Department of Psychological Sciences is the largest Department in the College of Health and Human Sciences (HHS) (http://www.purdue.edu/hhs/), which is the second largest college at Purdue. The Psychological Sciences faculty have strong connections with the Life Science MRI Facility and with several university-wide initiatives, including the Center for Research on Brain, Behavior, and NeuroRehabilitation (CEREBBRAL), the Purdue Autism Research Center (PARC), the Purdue Institute for Integrative Neuroscience (PIIN), the Center on Aging and the Life Course (CALC), and the Purdue Integrative Data Science Initiative. The successful candidate will also have substantial opportunities to collaborate with faculty within the Department, the College of HHS, and with STEM disciplines across campus, such as Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, the Regenstrief Center for Healthcare Engineering, the Serious Gaming Center, and the Connected and Autonomous Vehicle hub in Discovery Park.

Established in 1869, Purdue is Indiana’s land-grant university, a comprehensive educational and research institution and member of the American Association of Universities. The West Lafayette campus, located one hour north of Indianapolis and two hours south of downtown Chicago, has ten academic colleges with an enrollment of 44,500 students from over 133 countries.
