William & Mary seeks applications for the position of Associate Provost for Research Development and Innovation. The Associate Provost for Research Development and Innovation (APRDI) will build on institutional strengths to increase extramural funding for grants, contracts, and cooperative agreements and advance the university’s research profile. The APRDI will help to implement systems and mechanisms, including developing funding sources and other resources as well as supporting faculty in their research endeavors to solve problems of high-impact and interest. Success will be measured, in part, by continuing to broaden University-wide participation of faculty and staff in collaborative programs, projects, centers, and institutes and enhance external partnerships with governmental agencies and industry.
Assist the Provost’s office and Deans in mentoring and supporting faculty to help them identify external funding opportunities, improve skills in proposal development, team management/leadership, communication, organization and time management, conflict resolution and persuasion, problem solving, policy interpretation and implementation, and grant writing skills. Develop a center focused on this level of faculty development and support related to their research and scholarship goals. The ultimate goal is to increase the number of individual and team proposals leading to higher levels of external support for increasing research activity.
