The Department of Genome Sciences at the University of Washington is seeking applications for 1 full-time faculty position at the rank of ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, tenure-track. Research in the department encompasses genetic and genomic analysis of humans and model organisms, population and evolutionary genomics and development of new experimental and computational technologies. Departmental research is highly collaborative, and computational biology is woven into all aspects of our work, including sequence, expression, proteomics, single-cell, network, spatial organization, genetic and epigenetic analyses. The successful applicant will lead a computational biology research program focused on the implementation or development of cutting-edge approaches for analyzing genomic or proteomic data. Reflecting the Department’s breadth, example research areas include development of new machine learning, statistical or mechanistic modeling approaches; human genome and biobank analyses; metagenomics and metaproteomics; population or evolutionary genomics; integrative genomics; functional genomics; or image analysis, among many possibilities. In addition to establishing an active research program, the role involves teaching and service. All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.
The base salary range for this position will be: $10,667 - $11,667 per month ($128,004 - $140,004 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. Assistant Professors are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. The appointment has an anticipated start date of September 2024.

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree, or foreign equivalent.
