    Department Summary

The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) is the hub of learning, research, and academic excellence at the University of Oregon. With nearly 50 departments and programs representing the natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities, the high quality of our programs is the main reason why the University of Oregon is one of only 66 top universities in the prestigious Association of American Universities. Our faculty and advisors work directly with students to help them think analytically, question critically, and communicate clearly about how to find solutions to real-world issues in the world we live in. Our staff and managers play critical and dynamic roles in supporting and advancing the academic mission of the University and of CAS.

CAS is organized into eight Academic Support Units (ASUs), each housing staff, managers, and an associate director, who provide undergraduate and graduate academic support, as well as faculty and operational support to the multiple academic departments and programs in CAS. ASU 8 includes the departments of Mathematics (MATH), Earth Sciences (ERTH), Computer Science (CS), and Data Science (DS).

    Position Summary

The Academic Programs Manager (APM) supports the student-facing processes and programs in the Academic Support Unit (ASU). This position works closely and collaborates with the Associate Director with a primary focus on student services and recruitment. These duties include but are not limited to, tracking processes related to the undergraduate and graduate student lifecycle; supervising staff that also support this area; graduate and undergraduate student recruitment; management of course information, registration, and petitions/requests; and managing and maintaining student records and listservs. This position also collaborates with the CAS Business Office (CBO) on event planning for the ASU. The APM also supports recruitment efforts by providing collaboration and outreach with campus partners.

This position supervises a team of staff that provide support to the APM. The APM reports directly to the Associate Director of the ASU.
