The Department of Communication at the University of South Alabama invites applications for the position of Department Chair. The Department seeks a dynamic leader who will be responsible for the academic, personnel, financial, and administrative needs of the Department. The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in Communication, Mass Communication, or a closely related field and should hold the rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor at a comparable institution. Research and teaching specializations are open. The successful candidate will have a strong research record, a commitment to teaching excellence, and demonstrated administrative experience. The Department Chair is a twelve-month, tenure track position and reports to the Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences. The position will begin by August 15, 2024. The Department of Communication offers both undergraduate and graduate programs, with Bachelor of Arts degrees in Advertising and Public Relations, Communication Studies, Digital Film and Television Production, and Journalism (Broadcast and Multimedia), and a Master of Arts in Communication.
