Job Summary
The School of Education at Elmhurst University invites applications for student teaching supervisors for the secondary education program (middle school and high school) in these disciplines: math, science, social studies, Spanish as a Foreign Language, physical education, theater, music and English language arts.
Supervisors will observe student teacher candidates in the spring semester 2024 for at least 6 times a semester and perhaps a few more visits. Supervisors will be paid a stipend each semester based on the number of student teachers being observed and the number of visits. Clinical supervisors are the liaisons between Elmhurst University and school personnel and work in collaboration with cooperating teachers and student teachers.
Essential Functions
Performs other teaching-related duties as assigned.

Employee is subject to indoor work, protected from weather conditions. Work is sedentary in nature and involves exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently/constantly in order to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

Essential Functions
- Conferencing with the cooperating teacher about expectations for the semester.
- Acting as a confidante for both the cooperating teacher and the student teacher.
- Being an advocate for the student teacher.
- Facilitating clear communication and positive interactions between the cooperating teacher and the student teacher.
- Assisting the cooperating teacher/student teacher team in developing clear, realistic goals for co-teaching practices.
- Handling any difficult or sensitive situations that might arise, and contacting the program director immediately with any concerns or questions.
- Conferencing at the site visit with the cooperating teacher and the student teacher regarding the candidate’s strengths, needs, and areas of concern; planning for remediation if necessary.
- Sharing candid reflections on the student teacher’s classroom performance and development.
- Apprising the cooperating teacher of the procedures for completing the candidate’s final evaluation; contributing thoughts to the cooperating teacher regarding this evaluation.
- Providing guidance during the student teaching semester and making additional visits if necessary.
- Submit an electronic early term feedback form and a summative evaluation for the student teacher.
Performs other teaching-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Five years of teaching and/or administrative experience at the secondary level
- Licensed teacher and/or administrator (retired or inactive is fine)
- Advanced degree in Education
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work positively with students and other instructors
