Title: Director of Campus Technology               Reports to: Executive Director of Campus Effectiveness and                                                                                                  Grant Development 

FLSA: Exempt                      Classification: Management                                Grade: D63

Goal Statement:

The Director of Campus Technology reports directly to the Executive Director of College Effectiveness and Grant Development.  The Director determines and facilitates the design and implementation of technology services and solutions for the campus. Assuring that there is an efficient, effective, and secure information technology infrastructure to support our core teaching and learning vision is essential to this leadership role. 

This position not only manages the dynamic aspects of IT and the IT team, they also provide strong leadership and advice regarding technology that may be used to increase marketing opportunities to grow the College through recruitment and access platforms. 

KEY MEASURABLE EXPECTATIONS: 

  • Facilitate alignment between our academic and technology infrastructure to support equitable design and access for students. Examples of this may include such innovations as competency-based education and blendflex that require stable and innovative technology platforms.
  • Provide leadership, support and direction to the IT team including onboarding, supervision, training, coordination, and performance evaluation.
  • Direct, coordinate, implement, and maintain the design of the network and system infrastructure.
  • Remain educated and be prepared to recommend new advancements in technology to benefit faculty, team members and students.
  • Responsible for data security, data integrity, and confidentiality of all relevant college data related to students, faculty and team.
  • Ensure IT compliance with state and federal regulations and reporting requirements to Illinois Community College Board (ICCB), IPEDS, and the Higher Learning Commission.
  • Responsible for managing relationships with technology vendors to assure that technology investments align with campus technology plans as well as the college’s most recent strategic plan.
  • Responsible for relationships with technology consultants and oversight of any consulting work performed to ensure it meets all necessary specifications and requirements.
  • Plan and manage operating and capital expense budgets that includes consulting, software, and infrastructure purchases.
  • Respond and resolve emergency situations regarding technology related issues at any time an issue arises.
  • Meet with IT management and staff on a regular basis to connect, brainstorm, and communicate goals and initiatives for transparency.
  • Develop training opportunities for faculty and non-faculty team members to learn new software and/or become more efficient with current software solutions.
  • Other related duties as assigned. 

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree required with related experience in management information systems (MIS)
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • A minimum of ten years managing a data center and telecommunications network environment, or equivalent experience (i.e., middle management experience overseeing technology)
  • Excellent management, leadership, and team building skills.
  • Demonstrate IT knowledge and technical skills.
  • Strong verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to embrace change and see change as an opportunity to expand and strengthen the vision and mission of the college.
  • Competency in using ERP software. Ellucian Colleague preferred.
  • Desire to accept new challenges and to creatively solve problems.
