The UIC ECE department invites applications for multiple tenured and tenure-track faculty positions at all levels. The faculty positions start on August 16, 2024, or on a mutually agreed date thereafter. The successful candidate is expected to establish and sustain an outstanding research program, as well as be strongly committed to student success both at graduate and undergraduate levels. There are two separate searches, each with its own Job ID number (see below).

POSITION 1: Open Rank, Tenure Track, Quantum Information Science and Engineering (QISE)Job ID1021648

Priority areas include:

  1. Quantum information theory
  2. Quantum computing – algorithms
  3. Quantum computing – hardware
  4. Quantum sensing
  5. Quantum communications and networking

POSITION 2: Open Rank, Tenure Track, Advanced Semiconductors and Computer Engineering. Job ID1021647

Priority areas include:

  1. Advanced semiconductors (including: microelectronics; nanoelectronics; optoelectronics; integrated circuits)
  2. Computer engineering (including: embedded computing; edge computing; distributed computing; high performing computing; neuromorphic computing; data-centric computing; hardware security)
  3. Artificial Intelligence (including: generative AI; robotics and reinforcement learning; autonomous systems; cyber physical systems; internet of things; control and optimization of dynamic systems; decision science)
  4. Sensing Systems (including: radar systems; joint communication and sensing; electromagnetics)

Exceptional candidates in all areas of ECE will also be considered. Those candidates working in QISE should apply to 1021648.

Minimum Qualifications

A PhD in computer engineering, electrical engineering, engineering physics, computer science, or a related field is required, with the degree requirements completed before the date of appointment.
