At the Institute of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology which is part of Faculty of Computer Science, Electrical Engineering and Mathematics a
W3 University Professorship (f/m/d) in Information Engineering
is to be filled. We understand “Information Engineering” as the generation, distribution, analysis, and interpretation of information, data, and knowledge in systems. Modem approaches are typically data-driven and use machine learning and artificial-intelligence methods. The focus of this professorship will be on methods that take into account the structure of the data of the particular application, given by the physics. Such structure can be, for example, prior knowledge of a model of how this data is generated. It is also possible that direct prior knowledge about the structure of data is given (e.g., a space-time structure or sparsity).
We are looking for a person who performs research on modern methods of information engineering exploiting the data structure of the respective application and who has an excellent track record in this field evidenced through international publications. The applications considered should be related to electrical and information engineering (such as communications engineering, control engineering, signal, image or speech processing). Connections to research priorities in the faculty are desirable and advantageous.
We expect eminent standing and commitment in the scientific community. Experience in the acquisition of third-party funds and relevant industrial experience are advantageous, but not mandatory.
