The Department of Pharmacological and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Houston seeks highly qualified applicants in the Presidential Frontier Faculty program ( ) to fill a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Pharmacology. Outstanding applicants with cutting-edge research programs in physiology, pharmacology, and drug discovery/development are strongly encouraged to apply.

Our Department is located in Health Building 2, a 300,000-square-foot state-of-the-art research facility on the University of Houston Campus. Research programs are supported with exceptional laboratory space, updated cutting-edge core research facilities, including newly purchased high-end mass spectrophotometers and a full-featured vivarium . Examples of newly available shared equipment and facilities include a Visual Sonics Vevo 3100 Preclinical Imaging System, Perkin Elmer IVIS Lumina III XRMS Whole Animal Imaging System, 2 Orbitrap Exploris 480 High - Resolution Mass Spec trometers (one with Biopharma option and the other with MALDI imaging and nanoLC capability ), NMR spectrophotometers, confocal microscopes, Digital & QuantStudio RT-PCR systems, Agilent Seahorse XF metabolic analyzer, and PhenoMasterNG Metabolism, Behavior, and Physiology Cages. The research strengths of the Department’s pharmacology discipline include programs in cancer, renal, skeletal muscle, cardiovascular, and neuroscience . However, highly motivated and successful scientists performing research in other biomedical and pharmacological fields are also encouraged to apply.

Qualifications :

Eligible candidates must have earned a doctoral or medical degree, have postdoctoral experience, an excellent publication record, scholarly productivity, and high potential to develop extramurally funded research program. S alary commensurate with experience.

The candidate will be expected to develop an internationally recognized extramurally funded research program and participate at the Pharm D. professional program and the Ph.D. program in Pharmacology .
