Position, Department: English Connections Instructor, Continuing Education & Workforce Development

Type of Position: Non-Credit Instructor, Non-Exempt

Work Schedule, Hours per week: Monday/Wednesday 6pm-9pm- West Park: Tuesday/Thursday 9am-12pm or 6pm-9pm-West Park Monday/Wednesday 9am-12pm – Center of Grace, 8 hours per week

Pay Range: $23.00 per hour

Benefits Category: Partial benefits

Position Summary: Provide English instruction to students who are transitioning from basic life-skill English classes into GED-level academic coursework, college transition or higher career placement. Instruction will be in reading, grammar, writing, vocabulary development, civics, and digital literacy at an intermediate to low-advanced level. Development of daily lesson plans to keep student attention, adhere to state and local academic standards and increase student success. Facilitate standardized testing for benchmarking. Engage community volunteers to assist with one-on-one instruction with learners. Create reports and maintain records. Participate in professional development events.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree
Strong English skills
Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
Attention to detail and accurate record-keeping
Demonstrated ability to improve learner academic skills
Proficient capability using Microsoft Office Suite, Google Classroom and Zoom

Preferred Qualifications:

Elementary or Secondary Education degree
Experience teaching non-native speakers
Experience teaching reading, grammar, and writing
Demonstrated ability to coach and instruct adult non-native education learners
Understanding of the unique needs of adult non-native education students
