About the Opportunity:
Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Associate AD will strategize, oversee and implement a plan to promote department and intercollegiate communications, to manage all broadcast operations, including linear and streamed productions and to serve as a sport administrator for multiple varsity teams. This position will serve on the Athletics Director's senior leadership team and will work collaboratively with campus and external partners to develop and implement Athletics 2025. The Associate AD will supervise a Communications unit that includes three full-time staff, a Video Production unit that includes four full-time staff and three Head Coaches.

Responsibilities:
The Associate AD will oversee, manage and generate communications and information that promotes Northeastern's intercollegiate athletics and recreation programs; cultivate relationships with sports media contacts and thereby generate interest in unique Northeastern stories/content, develop and respond to inquiries, create press releases and conduct press conferences, manage the production and distribution of online and print publications, maintain the athletics website, manage game day media, generate and catalog sports statistics and manage department photography needs. This person will attend home contests and travel with designated Northeastern sports teams, creating statistical summaries, graphics and video content, and written summaries that drive interest in and support of teams and student-athletes. Creativity and innovation are critical elements of this position. The Associate AD will possess and utilize expertise and knowledge of trend setting communications mediums in order to accelerate momentum, build awareness and engage the various Athletics and university constituencies. S/he will monitor technological advancements and recommend innovative communications practices.

The Associate AD will be responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining a comprehensive social networking strategy and plan in collaboration with the Department's Marketing Team, including managing regular updates to Athletic Department social media sites as well as e-newsletters, blog entries and other on-line communication vehicles. S/he will create systems for tracking, evaluating and reporting the effectiveness of all communication vehicles.

The Associate AD will build and foster connections with colleagues in Athletics, campus Marketing and Communications, Student Affairs, local, regional and national media and institutional and conference broadcast partners (currently including New England Sports Network (NESN), CBSSN, CBS Digital, Flo Sports and other potential opportunities.

Qualifications:
Must have minimum of 8 years of experience in higher education and/or professional sports media relations, journalism, broadcasting, new media, marketing or related field. Master's degree and NCAA Division I preferred.

A strong desire or demonstrated commitment to work in the field of intercollegiate athletics is required. Exceptional verbal, written, and online communication skills are essential. Person must be passionate, innovative and creative and must possess a results-oriented mindset. The ability to work independently and meet deadlines is a must. Has the ability to build effective relationships with internal and external constituencies.

Must have proficiency with MS Office suite, social media platforms, athletics statistical software, basic html editing and Adobe Photoshop and InDesign. Photography experience preferred.

Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Position requires frequent evening and weekend work and some travel.
