About the Opportunity:
The Office of the Chancellor HR Associate provides critical local HR support across the division's human resources activities, including but not limited to recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management. This position provides vital operational support to the divisional HR team, including the execution of all personnel transactions. The HR Associate works closely and collaborates frequently with staff, managers, and leaders within the Office of the Chancellor (OTC).

Responsibilities:
The HR Associate oversees hiring, onboarding, and off-boarding and is the primary point of contact for OTC hiring managers, providing expertise and guidance through OTC hiring, onboarding, and offboarding practices for full-time, part-time, temporary, and international employment for the division. The HR Associate provides excellent customer service to OTC leaders, managers, and staff and proactively resolves problems, serving as the primary liaison between OTC managers and employees and university Human Resources on issues related to hiring, data accuracy, benefits, payroll, time tracking, etc.

The HR Associate is a knowledgeable expert in university HR systems and OTC-specific practices, acting as a resource to other members of the OTC HR team. They troubleshoot issues, identify areas for improvement, and creatively propose solutions, working with the team to design and implement changes. In addition, the HR Associate is responsible for creating and updating process documentation, workflows, and guides for HR hiring and onboarding practices. The HR Associate owns the maintenance of OTC HR internal sites, working with the Assistant Vice Chancellor to update and refresh the content as appropriate. They contribute to team projects as assigned and performs special projects at the team's request.

A valuable member of the HR team, the incumbent is a collaborative, willing, team-player responsible for carrying out a wide variety of execution tasks within and outside of their assigned portfolio and provides training and onboarding support for existing and new team members. They must have exceptional attention to detail, be well-organized and able to juggle multiple competing priorities, clearly and professionally communicate with all levels of the organization, and maintain a high level of discretion and confidentiality.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 3-4 years of professional human resources experience required
  • Demonstrated interest in expanding HR knowledge or related field of study
  • Sound judgement, excellent interpersonal skills, proven ability to demonstrate initiative and motivation
  • Well-developed problem-solving skills, along with the ability to effectively observe and listen to anticipate or interpret employee and manager needs
  • Ability to translate HR policies, system processes, and best practices into everyday language that managers and staff can understand
  • Demonstrated analytical skills to read, interpret, and communicate data and/or survey results to inform practices, processes, and aid in decision-making
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong proofreading, attention to detail, and follow through skills are essential
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize projects and multiple, competing priorities
  • Demonstrated accuracy, thoroughness, and quality of work
  • Must demonstrate a proven ability to effectively work with competing priorities and a diverse set of customers/clients
  • Must have a strong team-orientation and flexible approach to work
  • Strong ethical sensibility and ability to manage a high level of sensitive and confidential employee information, maintaining confidentiality and exercising discretion at all times
  • Advanced MS Office proficiency, including SharePoint, spreadsheet, database, presentation and research skills


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Workday preferred
