About the Opportunity:
Reporting to the Assistant Vice President, PDSO/RO the Associate Director of Comprehensive Advising provides leadership and oversight of comprehensive advising processes and procedures for international students and scholars at Northeastern University's Boston campus.

The Associate Director provides support and oversight for all SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor Information System) compliance functions and serves as a Designated School Official (DSO) and Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO).

Responsibilities:
Maintains full regulatory oversight leading to a precise schedule of SEVIS reportable events and registrations as required by current immigration regulations; Manages comprehensive range of international student and scholar advising functions and makes referrals to relevant campus support as required; Supports key enrollment management initiatives related to international students; Ensures the delivery of holistic advising, support, and services aimed at contributing to the integration, retention, and overall achievements of international students and scholars; Collaborates with OGS managers and campus stakeholders to develop, design, and implement programs and infrastructures needed to support and enrich the international student and scholar experience; Contributes to the planning and implementation of international student orientation. Performs other duties as assigned.

The Associate Director supervises an advising team, providing direction, training, and workflow management, connecting the team seamlessly to other OGS teams and/or locations in the U.S. as needed.

Qualifications:
A minimum of a Master's Degree is required in a field related to international education or compliance. Must be eligible to serve as ARO and DSO. Must possess superior interpersonal and intercultural communication skills, as well as proven experience in the field of international exchange visitors' programs. A minimum of five years of professional experience in the field of higher education, advising J-1 Exchange Visitors, and knowledge of current regulations pertaining to employment (CPT, OPT, AT) and I-9 procedures is required. Experience in management of functional units will be a strong point. Fluency in a second or third language would be beneficial and candidates with study or work abroad experience preferred. Must possess excellent and proven organizational and managerial abilities and experience. This position requires a highly specialized range of skills and experience. It requires expertise in governmental regulations (including immigration and SEVIS), understanding of Department of State missions and goals, cross-cultural student and scholar advising and communication, sponsored agency regulations, and ability to communicate effectively with internal departments and labs.
