About the Opportunity:
Reporting to Executive Director of University Health and Counseling Services (UHCS), the Associate Director of Mental Health will serve in a leadership role in the management of the clinical and administrative needs of a leading large urban university health center. UHCS provides Northeastern University students integrated medical/mental health services as well as disabilities supports, alcohol and other drug counseling and education, sexual assault services, sports medicine and a diverse array of campus and community outreach and preventative programming.

Responsibilities:
The Associate Director of Mental Health will play a central role in the management of clinical services and on-site support of a staff of seasoned college mental health clinicians. Overall duties will include group and individual supervision to clinical staff on best clinical practices and UHCS operational policy, administrative and clinical consultation and back-up support to all Mental Health staff, significant role in design and management of clinical scheduling models, management of clinical meetings, and direct clinical services. Other duties include clinically appropriate and student-centered interdisciplinary service coordination and training, and outreach and collaboration with the University community.

Qualifications:
  • Graduate degree in psychology is required,
  • Current Commonwealth of Massachusetts licensure as Psychologist, Psychotherapist, Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), or registered Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner or Clinical Nurse Specialist in mental health with authorization to practice in the expanded role, including prescriptive practice for psychotropic medications.
  • Minimum 5-7 years' of experience in the following areas:
    - Clinical and administrative mental health management and assessment and treatment of
    students in a college environment.
    - Safety assessments and formulating safety plans.
    - Comprehensive mental health assessments and treatment plans.
    - Providing direct clinical and administrative supervision to professional staff.
  • Demonstrated experience in communicating effectively and coordinating across university and health center disciplines as a consultant, supervisor, team contributor and leader in college student mental health, wellness and safety, and discretion in taking on the appropriate role(s) as warranted in each situation.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing and supervising mental health triage and brief psychotherapeutic treatment in an outpatient setting, urgent assessment and treatment planning and referral to other medical and psychiatric specialists and facilities as clinically appropriate.
  • Demonstrated ease and effectiveness in functioning in a highly diverse and inclusive work setting. Ability to supervise, collaborate with and report to personnel and provide treatment to students of differing ethnicity, race, gender, sexual orientation and identity, religious faith, nationality, age, abilities and political belief.
  • Experience in working with an electronic medical record is preferred.
