Falk College and the School of Social Work seek to hire a faculty member to fill a position at the Associate Professor level. The Associate Professor of the School of Social Work will teach undergraduate and graduate courses, pursue a program of research and publication, serve as an advisor to graduate or undergraduate students and provide service to the department, college, or university, and to the professional community. The College is interested in candidates who have demonstrated commitment to excellence by providing leadership in teaching, research, and service towards building an equitable and diverse scholarly environment. This is a tenured position with appointment at the rank of Associate Professor. The successful candidate will be requested to participate in an expedited tenure review process.

Qualifications: A Doctorate in social work or related field and MSW candidates should have a strong record of research, publication, and external funding. Applicants also must have university teaching experience with evidence of teaching effectiveness. Administrative experience in higher education is preferred. An ideal candidate is someone committed to the School’s existing culture of inclusiveness, social justice, and collegiality, while also facilitating the professional educational development of students and the research contributions of faculty. Candidates with the communication abilities to maximize effectiveness with diverse groups of students, colleagues, and community members are particularly qualified for this position.

About the School of Social Work: The School of Social Work (, founded in 1956, is part of Falk College at Syracuse University. It offers a BSSW, an MSW through 60-credit regular and 36-credit advanced standing options and a part-time Online MSW. Students also may enroll for concurrent Certificates of Advanced Study in such specialized areas as trauma and child therapy, or pursue joint degrees with Law, Public Administration, or Marriage and Family Therapy.
