Assistant/Associate Professor of Kinesiology (Tenure Track, 9-month position)

The candidates must:

1. Possess an earned doctorate from an accredited institution of higher education in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or related field; or be ABD with a graduation date prior to the start at NMSU.
2. Be able to provide undergraduate and graduate instruction in the area of Exercise Physiology, Anatomy and Physiology, and at least one of the areas listed under preferred qualifications;
3. Provide clear evidence of an ability to conduct a focused line of research and publish in quality peer-reviewed journals.

Preference will be given to those candidates who:

1. Ability to effectively teach in one or more of the following areas: Exercise Prescription, Advanced Exercise Physiology, Pathophysiology, Introduction to Kinesiology, and/or other Kinesiology-related areas.
2. Provide graduate instruction in Exercise Physiology.
3. Provide evidence of the ability to secure external funding.
4. Possess the ability to recruit and mentor graduate students.
5. Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Position Responsibilities:   The New Mexico State University Department of Kinesiology is seeking a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track assistant professor that will assist in achieving the department’s mission of teaching, research, and service. The faculty member must provide undergraduate and graduate instruction in Anatomy and Physiology and will have a responsibility in at least one other area of undergraduate or graduate instruction (i.e., Advanced Exercise Physiology). As a Hispanic Serving Institution, we seek a faculty member who values diverse populations, is interested in developing inclusive environments, and serves underrepresented populations. The faculty member must also demonstrate a solid scholarly record in a focused line of research, be expected to pursue external funding, and mentor doctoral students. In addition, the faculty member will participate in faculty governance, strategic planning, curriculum review, student outcome assessment, and advisement of undergraduate and graduate students.
