UMKC has the only public dental school in Missouri.

General Dentistry, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Periodontics, Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, and Endodontics.

Job Description

The University of Missouri-Kansas City, School of Dentistry seeks a non-tenure-track faculty Assistant/Associate Clinical Professor or tenure-eligible Assistant/Associate Professor in the Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics for the position of Director of the Advanced Education Program (AEP) in Orthodontics (Orthodontics Residency).

Director responsibilities focus on all aspects of the didactic and clinical training of orthodontic residents, including but not limited to:
  • Administrative oversight of the AEP in Orthodontics and associated faculty and staff interacting with the program to assure quality programming and activities.
  • Responsibility for organizing, preparing, and coordinating didactic curriculum, clinical curriculum and training, and seminars using a strategic approach which supports the program and the School of Dentistry.
  • Documentation of program outcomes and resident progression,
  • Responsibility for compliance with accrediation standards and reporting, and compliance with federal, state, local regulations and university policies.
  • Other duties as identified.
This position includes a ranked faculty appointment as a non-tenure-track faculty Assistant/Associate Clinical Professor or tenure-eligible Assistant/Associate Professor in the Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics:
  • Ranked, non-tenure track Assistant/Associate Clinical Professors have responsibilities in teaching and service to the department, School, university, and/or community.
  • Tenure-eligible Assistant/Associate Professors have responsibilities in teaching, research, and service to the department, School, university, and/or community.
Qualifications
  • Candidates should have a DMD/DDS degree, American Board certification in Orthodontics, and have experience in dental education.
  • Eligibility for Missouri Dental Faculty licensure is required.
  • Candidates for a tenure-eligible position must exhibit successful engagement in research.

Anticipated Hiring Range

The UMKC School of Dentistry is committed to evaluating salary and market data as we recruit for and hire the next generation of educators. The salary range for this position has recently been revised. The salary offered for this position will be commensurate with rank, education and experience.
