Job Details

The University of Olivet, a private liberal arts institution located in Olivet, MI, seeks an experienced and innovative leader to serve as Director of the Women’s Leadership Institute.

The University of Olivet was founded in 1844 on the principle that the future of humanity rests in the hands, hearts, and minds of those who will take responsibility for themselves and others in an increasingly diverse society. Open since its founding 179 years ago to all regardless of race, gender, or ability to pay, The University of Olivet was founded as the first university in Michigan to admit women and persons of color on a co-equal basis with white men and proudly defines itself by who it includes, rather than who it excludes. As such, it is one of the most diverse private liberal arts institutions in the state and actively seeks diversity in its students and employees. Consistent with this history, The University strongly encourages women and members of historically underrepresented groups to apply.

Reporting to the Associate Provost for Student Development, the Director of the Women’s Leadership Institute works in collaboration with university leadership on the design, development, and implementation of vibrant and engaging women’s leadership programming that provides educational and personal growth opportunities for all students at The University of Olivet.

The Director leads the development of WLI programming and partnerships, works to recruit new students with interest in leadership development to the university, serves as the director of the Keyes-Barber-Benedict (KBB) Scholars program, supervises program participants as student leaders and facilitators of WLI programming, including their work providing leadership training for historically underserved and underrepresented populations in the external community.  The director may also teach credit-bearing courses in leadership programs as assigned by the Associate Provost for Academic Affairs or a designee.

The University of Olivet’s mission is to provide an education that enriches lives intellectually, morally and spiritually to a diverse campus community. Having attained these qualities through their educational experiences at Olivet, our hope is that our graduates will embody the “divine art and science of doing good to others,” as stated by the University’s founding fathers in 1844.
