The Department of Art and Art History at DePauw University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Latin American early modern art history (c. 1400–1750) at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin in August 2024. PhD (by the time of appointment) in Art History, Latin American Studies, African Diaspora Studies, Religious Studies or other related areas with an emphasis on art history or visual culture is preferred ; ABD candidates will be considered at the rank of Instructor. The successful candidate may specialize in transnational approaches to colonial and/or African diasporic and/or indigenous studies with a secondary specialization in Museum Studies. A commitment to teaching undergraduates in a liberal-arts setting and evidence of effective and inclusive teaching are essential. The department specifically seeks candidates to teach introductory and upper-level courses in the candidate’s area of expertise for a six-course teaching assignment (3/3), and funding is available for professional development and research with undergraduate students.

This position will also entail regular contributions to the Latin American and Caribbean Studies (LACS) program and/or other interdisciplinary programs at DePauw such as Africana Studies and Women’s Gender and Sexuality Studies (WGSS).
