Description

The University of Washington Department of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery is actively recruiting a full-time academic surgeon at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor without tenure by reason of funding (WOT). Academic title/rank will be commensurate with experience/qualifications.

Assistant Professors WOT are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.  

Associate Professors hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.  

University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.

This position is based at the University of Washington Medical Center where the candidate will contribute to a multi-disciplinary practice environment which includes fellow, resident, and medical student teaching and clinical or basic science research. Additional time will be spent at the Fred Hutch Cancer Center. The anticipated start date is July of 2024.

Salary:

Assistant Professor WOT Rank:

The base salary range for this position at the Assistant Professor WOT rank will be: $22,500 - $24,000 per month ($270,000 - $288,000 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range represents base salary provided through the University of Washington Physicians (UWP) practice plan, and by the University.  

Other compensation associated with this position includes semi-annual additional compensation through UWP. The UW department of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery targets the AAMC 50th percentile for total salary.

Associate Professor WOT Rank:

The base salary range for this position at the Associate Professor WOT rank will be: $29,000 - $31,667 per month ($348,000 - $380,000 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range represents base salary provided through the University of Washington Physicians (UWP) practice plan, and by the University.  

Other compensation associated with this position includes semi-annual additional compensation through UWP. The UW department of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery targets the AAMC 50th percentile for total salary.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications include an MD (or foreign equivalent), certified or eligible for certification by the American Board of Otolaryngology, completion of head & neck surgery fellowship, and eligible for a Washington State medical license. 

The successful candidate must have expertise in endocrine and head and neck ablative surgery. Candidates should have a background and a track record of clinical and scholarly productivity.

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B, graduates of foreign (non-US) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the US Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
