Department Information: The Department of Computer and Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (CEE/CS) is a student-centered department that prides itself on its strong undergraduate research programs, hands-on learning, and commitment to student success. CEE/CS offers three Bachelors of Science degrees: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Electrical Engineering. The department currently has over 600 undergraduate students and enrollments are increasing in all three programs.

The Computer Engineering (B.S.) program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, https://www.abet.org/, under the General Criteria and the Program Criteria for Electrical, Computer, Communications, Telecommunication(s) and Similarly Named Engineering Programs.

Position Description: Applications are invited for a tenure-track position in Computer Science or Computer Engineering at the Assistant or Associate professor level, beginning August 2024.

Minimum Qualifications:

• The Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or in a closely related engineering discipline. ABD candidates will be considered if they are expected to complete the Ph.D. before August 2024.
• Experience in teaching (e.g., full-time/part-time instructor, instructor-of-record, teaching assistant).
• Demonstrated commitment to teaching undergraduates from diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds, including first-generation and non-traditional students.

Preferred Qualifications:

• A record of scholarship appropriate to the candidate's career level.
• An ability to teach courses and laboratory sessions effectively, maintain strong student-faculty interaction, and address the diverse needs of students with varying levels of academic preparedness.
• Some experience in teaching courses among the areas of Operating Systems, Computer Networks, Computer Architecture, or related courses.
• Candidates from all research areas will be considered. However, the department seeks individuals with research areas in systems: operating systems (including embedded, real-time and cloud systems), networks (protocols, security, privacy and distributed systems), and/or architecture.
• Experience in assessment and documentation to satisfy ABET accreditation.

Duties: The successful candidate will be expected to teach CMPS and ECE courses at the undergraduate level, conduct research, mentor undergraduate and graduate research students, advise students, and participate in appropriate levels of service to the department, school, university, and the profession. Additionally, instructors in the CEECS dept. must provide course documentation and assessment to satisfy ABET requirements.

Rank and Salary: Assistant or Associate Professor with salary based on experience and qualifications. Anticipated annual salary range is $88,000 - $110,000. Research startup funds and release time for establishing a research program are generally available during the early years of the appointment.

Background Check: A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU.
