Job Description

SUMMARY :

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Residence Life – Bloomfield Campus, the Residence Life Coordinator is responsible for the assisting in the management of housing communities ranging in size from 100-300 residential students, and the supervision of student staff members. General responsibilities include: student staff development, community development, student conduct, implementation of the residential curriculum, occupancy management, routine administration, program management, support of learning communities and professional development. The Residence Life Coordinator orchestrates activities that integrate the academic and social life of students. This is a live-in position that requires on-call duty responses during the evenings and weekends.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
  • Assist with providing strategic leadership for the residential students on the Bloomfield campus.

  • Serve as a resource for students and make referrals to campus partners as needed.

  • Assist with hiring, training, supervising, evaluating and mentoring a team of student staff members.

  • Conduct weekly one-on-one and team meetings with designated student staff members.

  • Oversee and facilitate programs, activities, events and community service initiatives and organize large-scale events each semester to enhance and promote student engagement and connections

  • Support student success and retention efforts.

  • Work with the Residence Life team on special programs/projects.

  • Respond to and address student issues, concerns and emergencies with effective communication and conflict resolution.

  • Educate students on University policies and the Student Code of Conduct and respond to and lead investigations of alleged violations of campus policies; uphold and enforce policies.

  • Respond to residential incidents, manage conduct cases and keep open lines of communication with the Student Conduct office.

  • Work collaboratively with campus partners.

  • Work collaboratively in partnership with the local authorities, such as police officers and fire marshals, to support safety and security in our communities in addition to establishing relationships with external stakeholders.

  • Assist with budget management in the planning and implementation of programs and events.

  • Compile Mid-year and Annual Reports specific to residential areas of management and supervision.

  • Serve on committees such as assigned.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Management retains the right to add or change job duties at any time.

QUALIFICATIONS :

REQUIRED :
  • Bachelor’s Degree from accredited college or university.

  • A minimum of one year of related job experience.

  • Ability to work with a diverse student/staff population.

  • Investment and engagement in campus community and culture.

  • Strong written/oral communication, interpersonal and leadership skills.

  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and projects.

PREFERRED :
  • Ability to motivate staff and students to create an effective team environment.
