Job Summary

Missouri Western State University’s College of Liberal Arts and the Department of Psychology invites applications for tenure-track Assistant Professor of Psychology f or an August 2024 appointment.

Successful candidates for this position should be able to contribute to our growing department through undergraduate teaching, research, and service. Candidates are required to hold a doctoral degree in Psychology or related field ( ABD considered). Ideal candidates hold a Ph.D. in Social Psychology and have a strong interest in teaching and in mentoring undergraduate research.

Essential Job Duties

Missouri Western currently offers a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a micro credential in Applied Behavior Support Services. As the program grows, we seek student-centered colleagues who are committed to mentoring students in undergraduate research through exceptional teaching and their own personal scholarly productivity.

Duties for candidates for tenure-track positions include performance of activities corresponding with the teaching, scholarship, and service expectations for the department and college. We seek colleagues with disciplinary expertise and professional experience, evidence of exceptional teaching, and the potential for scholarly productivity and collaboration with the region and community.

Primary teaching responsibilities include courses such as General Psychology, Social Psychology, Cross-Cultural Psychology, History and Systems in Psychology, and Psychology Research Team.

Successful candidates will:
  • Demonstrate disciplinary and professional expertise, and evidence of exceptional and innovative teaching and advising with diverse undergraduate or adult learners (in-person and online).
  • Exhibit existing and potential scholarly productivity as well as the desire to collaborate with colleagues, the region, and community.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to serve on department committees, attend department meetings, and work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students from a wide range of disciplines, cultures, and academic backgrounds.
Required Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree in Psychology or related field ( ABD considered)
  • Experience teaching undergraduate or adult learners
Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree in Social Psychology or related field
  • Experience teaching courses such as General Psychology, Social Psychology, Cross-Cultural Psychology, and/or History and Systems in Psychology
  • Experience mentoring undergraduate research in psychology or related areas

Physical Demands
