Senior Product Manager

About the Opportunity


The Senior Product Manager is responsible for driving product conceptualization, development, and strategy; go-to-market planning; and performance management over a set of education innovation products and initiatives. This role works closely with internal and external subject matter experts and stakeholders on product definition and roadmaps. The ideal candidate has the ability to translate market opportunities, user research, prototyping and pilot results, and business processes into innovative and widely adopted solutions.

  • 4+ years of experience working with user-facing products/programs
  • Experience collaborating with development teams from inception to launch to translate market opportunities and business requirements into project tasks, business cases, and go-to-market plans
  • Experience with rapid prototyping and user testing (or equivalent in higher education)
  • Comfort with human-centered design and systems thinking methods
  • Data-driven decision-making mindset
  • Openness to working with collaboration and tracking software like Asana, JIRA, and Miro
  • Ability to communicate big-picture strategy while providing detailed guidance to teams on projects
  • A passion for building and working within high-performing teams, supporting the success of diverse colleagues through ambitious challenge and solution spaces
  • Flexibility in relation to changing deadlines, project priorities, and resource management
  • A strong sense of ownership related to problem-solving, performance, and continuous improvement
  • Confidence in self-starting and leading complex projects
  • Experience building educational products is highly preferred


Oversee Product Design, Development & Management
  • Drive user-centric methodology for product development rooted in market research and co-design
  • Support, develop, and lead product development initiatives for EI
  • Conduct feasibility studies related to new product development
  • Define a lifecycle management strategy for a set of products, taking into account business goals, user needs, and market and performance data analysis
  • Apply LEAN Agile practices and frameworks
  • Identify innovative solutions with a buy/build/strategic partnership mindset
  • Identify and manage product dependencies and downstream impacts from strategic and development decisions
  • Champion the voice of the user; establish multiple paths for product feedback; and engage with students, faculty, partners, and the higher education field
  • Lead continuous improvement for a set of products including a roadmap that engages users and motivates development teams

Stakeholder Management
  • Communicate plans, roadmaps, progress, goals, and challenges to internal and external stakeholders
  • Understand stakeholder needs and prioritize to solve major pain points while providing the highest quality output to students
  • Partner with stakeholders to co-design and develop solutions that align with Northeastern and EI strategic goals
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across the university.

Collaborate with Internal Partners
  • Work with Product Design and Research teams to translate insights into hypotheses, tests, and features to improve a set of products
  • Participate with the co-creation team in the conceptualization of new initiatives and products in preparation for design and development
  • Collaborate with EI marketing to drive adoption of the products developed
  • Define models and measures of success in collaboration with the research team
  • Understand when to pull in the right individuals to design and develop solutions
  • Work closely with ITS to test and implement technical solutions
