Assistant Director, Strategic Analysis



Job Description:

Occasional travel to attend professional conferences and meetings. Under the general direction of the Assistant Provost, provide leadership to support the data and analytical needs of the University. Develop and maintain infrastructure to provide timely and reliable data for informed decision-making. Oversee efforts in maintaining and improving methods related to the production, processing and delivery of compliance and analytic reports related to student, human resource, faculty activity, and rankings data. Direct the application of advanced statistical, data mining, machine learning and various predictive modeling techniques to support the growth and expansion of value-added projects in these functional areas. Manage our analytics platform (SAS Viya); including aspects of system administration, user management, database management, data visualization, documentation, and publication to support strategic initiatives and institutional efforts. Work closely with institutional data analysts in project planning, prioritization, coordination, and workflows to turn raw data into useful information via dashboards, web reporting, and other information delivery methods. Criminal Conviction Check is required.

Required Education/Experience: Master’s degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field plus 5 years of experience in the job offered or any related occupation (Experience must be after Bachelor’s degree, but can be before, during, or after Master’s degree).

Required Special Skills:
  • 5 years of experience with: data warehousing; SQL; Visual Basic.
  • 3 years of experience with: ETL process.
  • 2 years of experience with: providing data for mandatory state and federal reporting; data governance; training; statistical models; Banner; ERP system; dashboard creation; higher education data analytics.
(Experience must be after Bachelor’s degree, but can be before, during, or after Master’s degree).
