Position, Department: Driver's Education instructor, Continuing Education & Workforce Development

Type of Position: Non-Credit Instructor, Exempt

Work Schedule, Hours per week: Various Saturdays 7:30 am - 5:00 pm plus self scheduled driving instruction, Varies hours per week

Pay Range: $20 per student for classroom instruction and $27 per hour for driving instruction

Position Summary: Prepare new student drivers for successful licensure through classroom and on-the-road instruction consistent with Kansas DMV requirements and standards in order to prepare student drivers for successful licensure. The Driver Education Instructor will prepare and deliver a classroom instructional program for students, plus 6 hours of driving lessons with each student.

Required Qualifications: • Holds a valid Kansas Teaching-License and has or will hold a driver's education
teaching endorsement issued by the Kansas State Department of Education
• If applicant does not currently hold a driver’s education teaching endorsement, they
must currently be currently enrolled in a state-approved drivers education
endorsement program
• If not an educator with a valid state teaching license, they must get state certification
as a substitute teacher and meet requirements outlined by Kansas Department of
Education.
• No license suspensions, DUI, DWI or Chemical Test failures or similar citations
within the past 3-years;
• Able to complete annually background check with acceptable MVR background
check. No more than 3 moving violations within the last 3 years and no suspended
violations in the last 3 years.
• Valid KS drivers license

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or higher plus two-years of teaching experience. One year as a
Driver Education instructor and experience teaching at-risk youth.
• Previous successful professional experience in areas such as law enforcement,
paramedic, firefighting, teaching, coaching, etc.
