In accordance with SBA goals and objectives, the State and other funding mandates, the Regional Director (Director IV), under the direction of the Associate Dean and NJSBDC leadership’s mission and programs, is responsible for the strategic planning, internal fiscal administration, reporting and overall management of the Small Business Development Center. In addition, the Regional Director is responsible for overall small business development in his/her jurisdiction, which includes client services development, database management, monitoring and reporting; overseeing client services program delivery in the form of one-on-one counseling; and training, marketing and outreach.

The Regional Director is responsible for fundraising to meet the Center’s funding goals; organizing and supervising Center staff and activities, including satellite locations; and developing strong external stakeholder communication and relationships as needed. SBDC consultants, selected by the Regional Director within the NJSBDC network program, will work externally to provide off-site counseling and training as the NJSBDC program requires. The Regional Director is responsible for Center collaboration on host institution projects including, but not limited to: undergraduate/small business initiatives, collaborative project development, College strategic initiatives, course and curriculum development, accessing appropriate faculty at Kean University to serve as consultants (as appropriate), as well as identifying students who can work with the SBDC program as interns. This position requires travel and a flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours. This position is grant funded and contingent upon the availability of supporting grant funds.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college and two or more years of professional experience in small business counseling, consulting, management and training/instruction is required. MBA from an AACSB accredited program and five or more years of experience is preferred. Candidate must have experience working in or managing a small business; computer skills/literacy; and knowledge of MS Office Suite software/applications, with additional experience in social media applications. Thorough understanding of small business issues and/or experience in economic development is a plus. Experience in teaching in a college academic setting is also a plus. Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential. Access to transportation is required in order to travel to client and SBDC sites and events.
