Institution Description
Advanced Academic Programs (AAP) is a division of the Johns Hopkins University’s Krieger School of Arts and Sciences. As part of the nation’s first research university, AAP offers high-quality master’s degrees and certificate programs at its Washington, D.C., Center, at JHU’s Homewood Campus in Baltimore, Maryland, and online. AAP enrolls almost 6,000 students each academic year in over 45 programs and distinguishes itself through its intensive instructional assistance, selective admissions, and 60 dedicated full-time faculty. Tenured Krieger School faculty members serve as program chairs to oversee the academic rigor of AAP’s graduate offerings. AAP’s website, , provides additional information.

Position description
The Advanced Academic Programs (AAP) division seeks non-tenure-track adjunct faculty to teach courses within the MA in Film and Media. Of particular interest are candidates who have experience engaging students from diverse backgrounds. We are looking for faculty who have experience in editing. Minimum Qualifications
  • An advanced degree in any relevant field, with a master’s degree at minimum.
  • Or at least three years of professional work experience with editing: film, media, television or other major content.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A terminal degree in a relevant field related to Film and Media.
  • 1-3 years of higher education teaching experience.
  • Experience in developing graduate courses (helpful but not necessary).
  • Experience in one or more of the following preferred:
    • Editing film, media, television or other major content.
    • Experience with industry professional editing workflows.
    • Experience with physical production.

During the Influenza ("the flu") season, as a condition of employment, The Johns Hopkins Institutions require all employees who provide ongoing services to patients or work in patient care or clinical care areas to have an annual influenza vaccination or possess an approved medical or religious exception. Failure to meet this requirement may result in termination of employment.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
