Graphic Design -
to teach undergraduate studio and lecture
courses within the professional Graphic Design and Advertising
programs with a specialty in Social Media Design. Non-teaching
hours will be devoted to advising and providing other support
services to students, primarily career mentorship and placement.
The ideal candidate will contribute intellectually to the formation
of this professional program by developing research and/or creative
scholarship that includes refereed publications, scholarly
presentations and grantsmanship appropriate to an assistant
professor academic level; participating in innovative teaching and
curriculum development; and actively engaging in professional
Terminal degree in Graphic Design,
Advertising or other appropriate design discipline is required.
Candidates must have two years of previous teaching experience at
the college level or three years of professional business practice
with expertise in contemporary technologies and social media. A
proven record of award-winning professional work and/or academic
scholarship is preferred.
Positions are ten-month, full-time, tenure-track assignments at the
rank of Assistant Professor effective for the Fall 2022 semester,
unless otherwise indicated. Teaching assignments and related
responsibilities may include day, evening, weekend and online
courses. Courses may be taught at the Union campus, Kean Ocean,
Kean Skylands or other locations. Faculty positions located in the
Nathan Weiss Graduate College may require evening hours for
graduate course assignments.
All tenure-track faculty are expected to demonstrate a commitment
to teaching excellence and an on-going program of research and
publication or creative and performance activity. Participation in
curriculum development, student advisement and service at the
departmental/school, college, university and community level is
also required. Interest or experience in using advanced
instructional technologies to improve the teaching/learning process
is highly desirable. Proficiency in the Learning Management System,
Blackboard and Online Learning Pedagogy is required, consistent
with University guidelines. Kean may offer free voluntary
Blackboard workshops to otherwise qualified applicants.
