Job Description Summary

Provide oversight of the Career Technical Education ( CTE ) activities at the college to include program reporting and outcomes, curriculum alignment, compliance, program budget and liaison with the state and the local education agency.

This position and budget period ends June 30, 2024. Continuation of this position after June 30th will be based on the renewal of the grant.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree required.
  • Five years of experience in Career Technical Education required
  • Three years of supervisory experience required.
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, staff, and school administrators.
  • Ability to work strategically to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Computer skills (Microsoft office, emails, etc.); strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

  • Work with appropriate college areas to ensure we provide equal CTE access and equitable support to all students enrolling in a CTE program of study, including students from special populations.
  • Oversee the coordination of all CTE communications and marketing with a specific focus on recruitment of special populations.
  • Provide support to all students completing a CTE program of study, which also includes students from special populations.
  • Supervise CTE Curriculum Coordinator and other staff (as necessary)
  • Ensure our CTE programs of study lead to careers that are high-skill, high-wage, and/or in-demand.
  • Work with appropriate internal and external partners to ensure Maryland Blueprint goals are outlined, monitored and achieved.
  • Ensure all CTE programs of study provide Technical Skill Assessments and work-based learning opportunities directly aligned to career preparation and placement for local workforce needs to ensure each student transitions to the workforce, postsecondary education, and/or apprenticeship programs.
  • Ensure each CTE program is locally validated to maintain current occupational standards by business/industry representatives from Program Advisory Committees, Local Advisory Committees, Agency Partners or other sources
  • Provide all students with high-quality CTE programs of study that provide safety & health, technical, academic, and employability knowledge and skills.
  • Work with appropriate college areas to ensure all students are provided with strong experiences in and an understanding of all aspects of industry and linkages between secondary and postsecondary programs.
  • Maintain adequate financial and human resources for CTE programming, instructional facilities to meet the needs of all CTE students, and that we meet current industry and occupational safety and health administration standards.
  • Ensure an evaluation of progress towards the implementation of CTE programs of study is conducted which includes a backward and forward review of all programs of study offered along with Federal and State evaluation requirements.
  • Adequately maintain internal processes to provide accurate and timely financial, grant, program and student data reports.
  • Identify the internal and external resources needed to increase retention and completion among PGCC CTE students.
  • Responsible for creating and administering a comprehensive CTE program at PGCC .
  • Work to increase articulation credits to high school CTE students through collaboration with PGCPS ; ensures awarding of articulated credits under existing CTE articulation agreements
  • Align internal programming to increase success rates and work with external CTE partners to increase awareness and bridge the gap between PGCC, PGCPS and the industry.
  • Oversee joint programming between PGCC and PGCPS ; serves as liaison to PGCPS CTE Office
  • Perform other job-related duties as required.
Job Requirements

Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to a, personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine. No significant climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written standard English.
  • As required by the 1986 Immigration Act, be prepared to present acceptable documentation showing your identity and that you are a U.S. citizen or an alien who is authorized to work.
  • A background investigation will be conducted prior to the offer of employment. A signed authorization for the release of personal information will be required if selected for an interview.
