Job Summary/Basic Function

Bay de Noc Community College is seeking qualified applicants to teach asynchronous online Introduction to Women’s and Gender Studies courses in the Blackboard Learn LMS beginning with the Winter semester. Instructors are responsible for establishing and promoting an effective learning environment to maximize student learning.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree or higher (or 18 graduate level credits) in Women’s and Gender Studies or a related field.
  • Experience teaching Women’s and Gender Studies courses at the college level
  • Experience teaching online courses at the college level
  • Commitment to quality instruction in a learner-centered environment with the goal of consistently improving student success
  • Commitment to the community college mission and philosophy
  • Ability to provide diverse teaching and learning approaches to diverse student populations
  • Demonstrated skill in effective written and oral communication
  • Demonstrated literacy in information technology and computer use
  • Commit to value, respect, and provide an equitable learning experience in an inclusive, welcoming environment; standing against discrimination or harassment to educate all students regardless of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, disability, veteran or military status, or other protected status.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching courses at a two-year or community college

Instruct Introduction to Women’s and Gender Studies courses offered online at Bay College.

Facilitate student learning through the following activities:
a) Develop course syllabi that share with students the expectations, standards, policies, and learning objectives of the course.
b) Contribute to the development and delivery of assessments of course and program learning outcomes.
c) Recognize and respond to different student learning styles and needs.
d) Develop and use supplementary learning materials, resources, and technology.
e) Maintain electronic student attendance records, grades, and other required records.
f) Implement best practices for ensuring all course content meets current regulations and guidelines for Accessibility for all students
