ESE Tenured or Tenure-track Faculty Positions, 2023 - 2024

Location: Philadelphia, PA
Open Date: Sep 19, 2023

The School of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Pennsylvania is growing its faculty thanks to a major $750M investment in science, engineering and medicine. As part of this initiative, the Department of Electrical and Systems Engineering is engaged in an aggressive hiring effort for multiple tenure-track positions at all levels. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related area.

The department seeks individuals with exceptional promise for, or proven record of, research achievement, who will take a position of international leadership in defining their field of study and who will excel in undergraduate and graduate education. Leadership in cross-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary collaborations is of particular interest. We are seeking candidates across a broad spectrum of electrical and systems engineering. Additionally, we have a special focus on individuals whose expertise aligns with the School's Strategic Plan on Engineering Excellence, in the following signature initiatives:

  1. Quantum devices and engineering (QUIEST)

  2. Energy and sustainability (Vagelos)

  3. Center for Precision Engineering for Health (CEP4H)

  4. Innovation in Data Engineering and Science (IDEAS)

Candidates interested in Innovation in Data Science Engineering and Science (IDEAS) are encouraged to also apply to the school-wide search and designate the ESE department as their preferred department.

We are especially interested in candidates with a diversity of experiences and perspectives. Penn Engineering strongly supports dual career couples, and we welcome and encourage inquiries about dual career assistance (for academic and non-academic opportunities) at an early stage of the recruitment process.

Interested persons should submit an online application and include curriculum vitae, research, teaching, and diversity statements, and at least three confidential letters of recommendation.

Review of applications will begin on December 1, 2023.

Must have a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related area.
