Chief Purpose of this position:
The College of Health Professions Patient Counseling Department invites candidates to apply for the PATC Program Director of Education term faculty position.
Position Responsibilities
Education Duties
- Teach students enrolled in the Master of Science and postbaccalaureate Graduate Certificate educational programs
- Serve as academic advisor to all students enrolled in the Patient Counseling Department
- Ensure, in collaboration with the department chair and faculty, all curricula and syllabi development
- Oversee, as per university policy, admissions interviews, scholarship awards, student success, weekly education faculty meeting
- Serve as coordinator of the required university academic review processes
- Submit annual academic reports required by the Office of the Provost
- Assist Chair in developing annual reports to the university and VCUHS
- Co-lead with chair, in partnership with department faculty, new program and clinical site development
- Serve one at least one university level or College of Health Professions committee
- Conduct research and publish within area of expertise
- Maintain membership and active involvement in professional organization(s)
- Maintain professional and ethical standards of national certifying and accrediting bodies
- Complete all required in-service and compliance training for VCU and VCUHS
- Attend Faculty Meetings
- Other duties as assigned
- Provide primary coordination of Patient Counseling educational program
- Convene all program education meetings
- Collaborate with the department chair to ensure coordination within the VCU and CHP strategic plans
- Collaborate with the department chair in ensuring program accreditation is maintained
- Collaborate with department ACPE educator(s) in engaging Professional Advisory Group (PAG)
- Coordinate continuing educational programs
- Represent Chair at committee meetings as needed
- Attend university and college faculty meetings
- Partner with department chair on department operations
- Partner with department chair on department continuing education and curriculum revisions
- Other duties as assigned
- Five or more years of professional experience in the area of spiritual care
- MDiv, seminary degree, or equivalent
- Demonstrated experience or high potential for fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
- Capacity to develop and adapt technology for educational and reporting purposes
- Demonstrated capacity to work with and adapt other models of
education, related to educational goals of the institution
APC Board Certification - Two or more years of leadership experience in an education/teaching environment
- Two or more years as a professional chaplain in a Level 1 Trauma and Teaching medical center
- Earned doctorate, PhD or DMin
- Fully Certified Educator (CE) by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE)
- ACPE National Faculty
- 2+ years’ experience in higher education
- Demonstrated history of scholarship/research/publication
- Leadership in national, regional, and state professional organizations through elected office or committee service
