Position Summary:

The Department of Neurology at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health seeks a child neurologist with a subspecialty training in pediatric movement disorders to join our expanding Pediatric Neurology and Comprehensive Epilepsy Programs at UW Hospitals, American Family Children's Hospital and UW Health clinics. The position includes opportunities for teaching, clinical and research activities in an academic environment with general pediatric neurologists, adult neurologists and faculty in pediatrics, neuropsychology, neurosurgery, neuroradiology, clinical neurophysiology and basic science departments.

Principal Duties:

70% Develop independent, extramurally funded research programs in pediatric movement disorders and child neurology and pursue funding for research

25% Clinical activities will involve attending duties in pediatric neurology clinics and on inpatient services at the University Hospital and the American Family Children's hospital at the University of Wisconsin, Unity Point Meriter Hospital and Affiliated regional hospitals and clinics. Provide treatment and neuromodulatory procedures for pediatric movement disorders patients.

5% Teaching responsibilities include teaching medical student courses and clerkship, mentoring graduate students and trainees, training pediatric and adult neurology residents, fellows and medical students and teaching continuing education programs for physicians and the public.

The successful applicant will participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health. An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

MD or DO is required.

Pediatric fellowship or equivalent experience

License or Certificate:

Must have WI medical license by the time of appointment. Must be ABPN or AOBNP Board eligible or certified in Neurology.

Additional Information:

This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. the selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and then every two years.

Academic credentials and experience for appointment at the selected rank of a tenure track School of Medicine and Public Health track focusing primarily on excellence in research, teaching and patient care. Appointment at the rank of associate or full professor rank requires meeting criteria for appointment level as defined in School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to associate professor or professor on the Tenure track.
