Job Description

The Wildlife Biologist will work cooperatively with natural resource staff at Marine Corps Base-Quantico and researchers at the Virginia Tech Conservation Management Institute to perform applied wildlife research and management to support the implementation of the installation natural resources management plan

Required Qualifications

1. M.S. in Biology, Ecology, Wildlife Sciences, Forestry, Environmental Science or related field.
2. Demonstrated expertise in basic ecological and wildlife survey protocols.
3. Demonstrated ability to perform basic statistical analysis of field data and report findings of research through written and oral communication.
4. Experience using geographic information systems to present data in a spatial context.
5. Experience navigating over rough terrain using topographic maps, GPS and compass and must be willing to work in adverse weather and field conditions.
6. Experience and knowledge in developing and implementing wildlife population and/or habitat management prescriptions from the results of wildlife surveys and research.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience working on DoD installations.
