Financial Aid Counselor

Position Summary:
Monmouth University is seeking applications for a Financial Aid Counselor in the Financial Aid Office.
The candidate would be expected to: perform verification and review of student files; provide counseling, with regard to financial aid, to students (both enrolled and prospective) and their families; create and/or revise student financial aid award packages; exercise independent judgment in the creation of such packages, at the same time ensuring that compliance with federal, state and institutional regulatory requirements is maintained; and assume primary responsibility for oversight and processing of the Direct Loan programs. The candidate will participate in recruitment related activities as assigned.
This is an in-person on-campus, non-remote position.

Basic Knowledge of MS Word 2016, Basic Knowledge of MS Excel 2016, Must be able to utilize a variety of computer software programs in order to successfully complete assigned tasks, Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills, Must be able to treat confidential and sensitive information appropriately, Must be able to operate a variety of office equipment

- Extensive experience with an online records system in a high-volume environment.
- Ability to perform data entry consistently and accurately in a high-volume environment.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to establish and maintain orderly and systematic work flow procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Significant and direct experience with processing the Direct Loan program - from origination of loans to disbursement to program reconciliation with Department of Education (DOE) systems.
- Experience with Ellucian’s Colleague student information system, the DOE’s Common Origination and Disbursement (COD) system; the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS), EdConnect, an automated verification system, and document imaging systems.
- At least one year of experience as a financial aid counselor.
