Primary Purpose

The Software Analyst – Programmer is part of a team which is responsible for maintaining a portfolio of enterprise applications, including the college’s Ellucian Banner enterprise resource planning ( ERP ) platform. In addition, the Software Analyst – Programmer will provide technical advice and support to end-users, including; troubleshooting issues, creating reports and data extracts, and data analysis. The Software Analyst – Programmer works closely with a larger team comprised of Business Analysts, Systems Administrators and DBA’s to manage all aspects of the COCC ERP system, and related enterprise applications, including those on-premise and in the cloud, through the entire product lifecycle.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

End-User Support
  • Support end-users of the Banner ERP system and other integrated, campus-wide software applications by responding to and addressing issues reported through the ITS help desk.
  • Assist in maintaining user access to the ERP systems and other enterprise software applications.
  • Regularly and independently troubleshoot and resolve technical problems.
  • Consult with and assist users to define, address and resolve a wide variety of challenges from across the college.
Application Development, Maintenance & Support
  • Perform analysis, development, integration, testing, QA, implementation, support and documentation of the college’s cloud-hosted Ellucian Banner enterprise resource planning ( ERP ) platform and other enterprise applications, both on-premise and in the cloud.
  • Assist in management of the ERP software application including performing required/scheduled installation procedures, assigned programming activities, updating tables and rules, and troubleshooting/performing QA related to system technical problems.
  • Participate in Enterprise Application Management ( EAM ) team projects as an analyst/programmer; projects include incorporating changes to existing functionality or implementing new functionality.
  • Consistently develop, document, and maintain ITS processes and solutions.
  • Perform and/or manage medium scale initiatives independently, with limited supervision.
  • Concurrently troubleshoot issues while managing multiple projects through completion.
  • Develop and modify interfaces to other business systems and applications as needed.
  • Develop and maintain database objects, views and reports.

  • Ability to work with customized role- and class-based user privilege assignment on ERP system.
Ergonomic Requirements

Position typically works regular office hours, M-F, 8 am to 5 pm. A flexible work schedule, including nights and weekends, may be necessary at times due to the nature of the responsibilities and/or business requirements.

Incumbent must be able to function effectively indoors in an office environment engaged in work of a primarily sedentary nature. Requires the ability to work at a workstation for extended periods. Regularly required to use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms and requires near visual acuity to write, read written materials and computer screens, and sufficient hearing and speech ability for ordinary telephonic conversations. Physical movements involve guiding, feeding materials into proper position. Lifting objects vary daily, ranging from 1lb to over 25lbs. Use of computer screen is required 70% of the work time. All individuals are required to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Minimum Requirements

Education
  • Associate’s Degree in a related technology field or equivalent work experience.

Experience
  • Two years of professional work experience using SQL or PL/ SQL .
  • One year of professional experience in software programming and development.

Preferred Qualifications

Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field or an equivalency of at least three years of related work experience in lieu of a degree.

Experience
  • Familiarity and/or programming experience with Ellucian’s Banner ERP .
  • Proficiency working in a command-line or shell environment, such as Linux.
  • Proficiency in one or more of the following is a plus: Linux command line, C, Pro*C, Java, JavaScript, Groovy, . NET, CSS, HTML and/or XML .
  • Experience in creating reports from an Oracle or MS SQL database system, using a report writing application such as Argos, Cognos, or Crystal Reports is a plus.
