Description
The Senior Data Analyst, positioned within the Information Technology Services Department (ITS), is centered on bolstering the office of Advancement's technology endeavors. This role is entrusted with driving strategic data analysis to enhance fundraising and engagement. They are tasked with the creation, maintenance, and enhancement of vital reports and queries, while also overseeing a calendar for routine data tasks such as mailing lists and surveys. Acting as an internal authority on data issues, the individual will collaborate closely with the teams in Advancement to uphold data integrity. Staying updated with cutting-edge data trends and technologies is essential, as is the responsibility of mentoring and fostering growth within the Data Architecture team.

Major Areas of Responsibility
- Lead and support efforts to provide data analysis to inform engagement and fundraising strategies
- Assist in the ongoing development and maintenance of a comprehensive suite of reports and queries to meet the operational needs of the division
- Create and maintain a calendar of ongoing data tasks such as data rolls, mailing lists, data analysis projects, reports and surveys
- Serves as internal resource and subject matter expert to colleagues and is a resource to others in the resolution of complex problems and issues connected to data used for reporting and analytics purposes.
- Collaborate with and support the Gifts and Records team and the Research and Prospect Management team in efforts to maintain and enhance data integrity
- Keep current with and advocate for emerging technologies and trends related to data and data best practices
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks and participating in professional societies.
- Understand strategic data needs of the business and translate into data system architecture and design.
- Mentor other staff within the Data Architecture team on data analysis.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Information Systems, or other related field, or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of 4 years of experience with relational databases, including creation of reports, analyzing data, and writing of queries, is required
- Proficient in Oracle or relational database, query/report writing, SQL and query optimization
- Advanced proficiency in data visualization tools such as Tableau, PowerBI, etc.
- Advanced Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite especially Excel, Google Docs and Google Drive
- Proven skills and vision in the strategic use of data to support a complex business, organization, systems, applications and data environment
