Position Summary: The Department of Sociology seeks to hire a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice beginning August 2024. The successful candidate will contribute to curricular design and assessment, teach undergraduate courses, advise and mentor undergraduate students, be team-oriented, and foster an inclusive and equitable work and classroom environment. Duties/Responsibilities:

● Teaching responsibilities include introductory general education, sociology, and criminal justice courses, and upper-level courses in criminal justice.

● Teaching load consists of a 4/4 schedule, or 12 hours a semester.

● An active research and scholarship development agenda, including participation in regional,

national, or international conferences, and occasional publications in discipline.

● Curriculum development and assessment.

● Committee work as assigned by Faculty Governance Structure, and departmental service.

● Mentoring and advising to a diverse population of students.

● Use of best practices in innovative pedagogy.

● Other responsibilities include professional service and outreach.

● Regular, predictable attendance on campus

● Alignment with University mission, vision, and strategic roadmap

● Other job duties/responsibilities may be assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:

● A commitment to serving diverse, first-generation, non-traditional, and socio-economically challenged students

● A willingness to work individually and in groups to support success in application to, matriculation, and persistence in the program

Education and Experience: Ph.D. in Sociology or Criminal Justice required before start date. Teaching experience, especially university level research methods, preferred.
