Director of College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP)

Salary for Announcement

The minimum of the pay range for this position is $64,500. We anticipate the qualified candidate to be placed between $64,500 - $86,050. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The Director of College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) will oversee the federal grant program CAMP. The Director is responsible for implementing the CAMP project by monitoring the program goals and objectives, managing the budget, and developing and implementing program assessments. The Director participates in the recruitment of participants and provides daily supervision of the CAMP professional staff, including planning and assigning work, approving work, responding to grievances, effectively recommending solutions to problems, training and developing staff, and administering performance evaluations. The Director collaborates with other university departments that provide support services tailored to the specific needs of program participants and oversees collaborative efforts with off-campus entities, who provide connection to migrant and seasonal farmworker communities for identification and recruitment of potential participants. The Director communicates with the United States Department of Education including preparing timely submissions of requested information and reports. The Director will attend various social justice and equity trainings on how to better support students from various underrepresented backgrounds which will improve program practices and policies. The CAMP Director is an integral member of the Center for Equity and Student Achievement (CESA) team.

Duties/Responsibilities

40% - Implement and oversee day-to-day operations of the grant, ensuring that the operation follows procedures outlined in the approved grant proposal, which include managing the budget, developing and implementing continuous improvement plans, and attending meetings on behalf of the program.

15% - Supervise professional staff, including planning and assigning work, responding to grievances, effectively recommending solutions to problems, training and developing staff, and administering performance evaluations.

15% - Oversee collaborative efforts with off-campus entities that provide connections to migrant and seasonal farmworker communities for identification and recruitment of potential participants.

10% - Collaborate with other offices to provide the best support services for participants and professional staff.

10% - Communicate with the United States Department of Education, including preparing timely submission of requested information and reports.

5% - Attend various social justice and equity trainings to better understand how to support, retain, and graduate students from underrepresented backgrounds.

5% - Other relevant duties as assigned

Required Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in education, social work, ethnic studies, or related field
  • At least three years of previous experience in one or more of the following: advising, student recruitment/retention, or related student services area
  • Possess an understanding of migrant and/or seasonal farmworker communities Experience with planning and implementing programs aimed at the retention and graduation of historically underrepresented students
  • Experience with federal grant program regulations
  • Experience with supervision in a higher education setting

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual in Spanish
  • Experience supporting students with disabilities, students of color, LGBTQ students, and first-generation students
  • Experience with Ellucian Banner, Student Success Management System, Degree Works, or similar information systems
  • Experience with program evaluation and data collection for federal submission
  • Experience working and communicating effectively with diverse students, faculty, and staff
  • Demonstrates ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Possess an understanding of how historic inequities in education play a role for current students from underrepresented backgrounds
