PURPOSE
The Performing Arts Center at Texas A&M University—Corpus Christi hosts, produces and executes over 350 events per year. With 5 fulltime staff members and more than 30 student workers, the Performing Arts Center presents events ranging from music recitals, orchestras to speaker series and dance performances. The role of the Events Specialist is important to the team as this person is the central contact for all clients and building staff regarding event logistics and planning. The Events Specialist must be detail orientated and able to juggle several projects at once.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Facilitate client meetings to determine needs for client events and document those needs with the highest degree of professionalism and expertise. Work with performing artists from all genres (i.e. symphony orchestras, theatrical productions, solo musicians, famous touring acts, university students and ensemble directors, etc.). Facilitate front of house setups as events require (i.e. setups/tear-downs in lobby, and greenroom, to include chairs, tables, stands, risers, pipe & drape, etc. and stanchions in the seating areas for ceremonies). Also work with A&M System and Facilities on providing event schedule needs for HVAC and cleaning of PAC.
- Under the direction of the Facilities Manager hires, trains, evaluates and assists with supervision of student worker staff.
- Under direction of PAC Director, maintains daily calendar for facility.
- Maintains PAC web pages and conducts client/user post-event surveys.
- Administrator of Prepared - cloud-based management software and workflow platform for the PAC. Responsible for inputting information gathered from meetings and for making sure all staff and details for each event are up to date in the program. Responsible for training staff and students to use the program.
- As needed, provide technical assistance under the supervision of (or absence of) the Technical Manager and Technical Coordinator in running lights, sound, AV, and providing staging requirements for the PAC to include but not limited to setting and striking all furniture and equipment needed to facilitate the event on stage.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
- High School diploma or GED.
- Four (4) years of related experience.
- Intermediate Skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Listens intently and gets clarification where needed. Positive attitude.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision (self-motivated). Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent attention to detail.
