ASSISTANT DIRECTOR FOR RESIDENT SUCCESS

 

 

 

University Housing at Coastal Carolina University seeks a dynamic individual for the position of Assistant Director for Resident Success reporting to the Associate Director of Resident Success. Coastal Carolina University has a two-year housing and meal plan requirement in which our first-year students primarily live on central campus in suite-style residence halls and our second year and transfer students primarily live at University Place in apartment-style communities. Our on-campus housing provides a diverse and lively experience to approximately 5,200 students.

 

 

 

The Assistant Director (AD) for Resident Success is a full-time live-off staff member who serves as a mid-level manager in the Resident Success unit within University Housing. The AD is responsible for the direct supervision of masters-level Community Coordinators (CC) and Area Coordinators (AC), indirect supervision of Resident Advisers (RA), and the collaborative supervision of student Desk Assistants/Desk Managers (DA/DM), in an area of between 1200-2400 residents. The AD is primarily responsible for the creation of a positive community focused on resident safety and success in collaboration with other University Housing and Coastal Carolina University staff and faculty.

 

 

 

Duties include, but are not limited to:  manage residential community including policies, procedures, and protocols with specific emphasis on crisis response, license agreements, the Code of Student Conduct, and professional conduct of staff at all levels; select, supervise, train, and assess staff; manage and prioritize administrative processes, reporting, and paperwork in an accurate and timely manner; provide leadership in the development of a residential community that is conducive of students’ holistic development and is supportive of students’ academic endeavors; model, promote, and ensure exceptional customer service to all constituents; maintain strong collaborative relationships with university offices to ensure University Housing’s place as a productive and complimentary student service; and serve in a senior-level, 24-hour-a-day on-call capacity responsible for effective response to and management of environmental, facility, and human crises; and perform other duties as assigned.

 

 

 

Requirements: A Master’s degree and three (3) years of experience in student services programs and response to student behavioral issues and/or related professional experience is required. Must have a valid driver’s license and acceptable three (3) year driving record. Five (5) or more years of related professional experience and prior direct supervision of graduate or professional staff, fiscal management, response to student behavioral issues including crises, adjudicating student conduct cases, and co-curricular programming based in student development theory and practice is preferred.

 

 

 

Able to work evenings and weekends during peak times of the year and able to respond to on-campus crisis and emergencies within 30 minutes. Able to attend overnight conferences and drive state vehicles transporting staff and students for work functions, including students attending regional and national conferences. Physically able to maneuver through communities, including up/downstairs in communities without elevators. Considered “essential personnel” and required to participate in campus-wide emergencies such as weather and structural emergencies.

Student Services Manager I (CB75/61122784/FTE-S00921P), full-time position with benefits. SC State Pay Band: 06.  Salary range is $45,530.00 (minimum) to $64,885.00 (midpoint). Salary will commensurate with qualifications and experience. Normal work hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Must be flexible to meet the special scheduling needs of the university. Serves in a 24/7 administrator on-call and support staff rotations-with a minimum response time expectation.
