Senior Study Abroad Advisor



Department: Global Education

Position Summary:
Monmouth University is seeking applications for a Senior Study Abroad Advisor in the Global Education department.

The candidate would be expected to: develop and implement best practices in study abroad advising; advise study abroad and faculty-led students; develop expertise in foreign credit systems and utilize that knowledge for the review of study abroad plans. Develop expertise in University curriculum, degree requirements, and academic policies to ensure accurate and proactive advising for students; create and present at recruitment events such as Study Abroad 101 Information Sessions and Study Abroad Fair. Implement Study Abroad program evaluations; advise the Study Abroad Club and lead the Global Education Mentor Program; work with the Director to develop and implement re-entry programs; Create and ensure that University applications in Terra Dotta and host institution applications are complete and submitted successfully; work with the Director of Global Education to implement elements of the Office's emergency response plans when needed; Travel internationally to conduct site visits and implement onsite cultural immersion orientation programs.

This is an in-person on campus, non-remote position.

Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills, Must be able to utilize a variety of computer software programs in order to successfully complete assigned tasks, Must be able to treat confidential and sensitive information appropriately, Basic Knowledge of MS Word 2016, Basic Knowledge of MS Excel 2016, Must be able to operate a variety of office equipment

Demonstrated international experience living, working or studying abroad. Experience with academic, cultural, or developmental advising of college/university students.

Ability to travel internationally as needed. Valid passport or obtain within 6 months of date of hire. Strong commitment to experiential education and global education.



Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Terra Dotta software for study abroad students. Master’s degree in related field.
